School of Hard Knocks
I had a call from their producer yesterday asking me to go back and do some more work with the group of young people featured in the program, so keep an eye out for forthcoming installments.
In Will's article in The Telegraph, he explains, "The plan was to take a group of young men who found themselves drifting and often in trouble, and see if we could turn them into a rugby team. Our players had employment issues, bail stipulations, former drug problems. Some were convicted criminals, others bored, unemployed youngsters. More often than not they were lads who had taken a wrong turn."
School of Hard Knocks "is about the realisation that we all have to suffer if we want to reach our goals, and the stark truth that none of us can make it on our own."
It's an exciting project that is making a real difference in young peoples' lives, at the most crucial point for them. Support them by tuning in, and you might learn something valuable for yourself, too.
