New review for The Pitching Bible in Growing Business magazine
"Find out how to make the perfect pitch and avoid common pitching mistakes"
In The Pitching Bible, former TV and radio presenter, singing comedian and pitch expert Paul Boross draws on his varied skills and experience to help illustrate the seven ‘secrets’ of a successful business pitch. Boross, who has been pitching his ideas for 25 years, claims to have learnt through trial and error what works and, crucially, what doesn’t.
In this book he shares his insight into the often daunting world of pitching to help you overcome your fears, and learn how to pitch perfectly, noting: “You are the message. You are product. You are the pitch.”
Boross explains how the ability to communicate effectively and build rapport with your audience is at the heart of any successful business pitch. According to him, in order to succeed it is also vital to have a ‘competitive advantage’. He writes: “Your competitive advantage rests entirely on your ability to communicate your ideas.”
The book is written in an engaging manner –optical illusion graphics are used to demonstrate perception, and each chapter provides simple exercises, which encourages the reader to take stock and self-critique. Although a reader with more experience in pitching may find their attention wandering – (some of the information is nothing new), for those looking to brush up on or learn pitching skills, this is an excellent place to start.
