I’ve chosen the right Korea
The MIP TV festival is usually a busy time for me but this time it was even crazier than usual. As well as all the usual business meetings, lunches, dinners and , of course, the obligatory late night drinks at The Grand or The C21 Club, I had agreed to deliver four sessions for the organisers. My first ‘gig’ was to train people to pitch for the big 360 competition. I am delighted to say one of the companies I trained won the first prize. Harry D. Lee from Telston (www.telston.com) in Korea sent me a charming e-mail of thanks which said,
"Thank you for your mentoring us" first of all. We won the first prize at MIPTV Content 360 due to your valuable advice.
During the 30 minutes you let us know what to focus and how to pitch. You even gave us a good idea of motto 'Fun for viewers, make profit for producers' I repeated it over and over until I spoke it instinctively. And it really helped!"
The best thing about being The Pitch Doctor is getting feedback from people who I have helped. Sometimes the smallest of gestures can carry significance far beyond what it might seem to a casual observer.
Even after years of working with people and companies to give them the tools to improve their pitches, and sometimes even their lives, an e-mail of appreciation from a grateful client still puts a spring in my step. Thanks Harry.
